In the times that we live in, compassion is fading . It is not really considered a virtue. So many times we get abused and our productivity suffers at workplace just because we were compassionate. Racing to prove that one is better, even at the cost of causing harm to the fellow being is becoming normal and acceptable.

I would not like to be all preachy about this but I have always believed in goodness. The power of goodness. The power in standing for what you feel is right, even if you are the only one doing so. To give when you have nothing to give.
